You wonder if your kid will ever get used to sleeping alone. They were used to sleeping in the same room as you guys. Now you’ve given them a room of their own but they still wake up in the middle of the night and sneak into bed with you.

Don’t worry! It’ll take time for the child to adjust. Continue to keep him company in his room until he falls asleep. The waking-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night thing may continue for a while, but over time, your kid will grow out of it.

Don’t feel frustrated simply because your child seemed to have adjusted to sleeping by herself, then somehow the progress backslides and she starts sneaking into your room again. This is normal. Backsliding happens. Just continue to encourage her to sleep in her own room until she becomes used to it 100%.

You can also try getting her a big stuffed toy to keep her company.

One mum also suggested a reward chart: Each day that he has stayed in his bed all night long, he gets a sticker on a chart. Once he gets so many stickers, he gets something special. It doesn’t have to be anything expensive, a special snuggle time with Mommy in the morning, a matchbox car, or something like that. Kids like to look forward to getting something and they like to look forward to accomplishing something.
